“La Maison dans la Loire”
(House in the Loire River) – Creation

Preview of the Work on Sunday 3rd June at 2:00 pm, on the occasion of the Harbour of Lavau festival

Jean-Luc Courcoult, drawn by Lavau and its marshes, mysterious small village, almost like an island, finding the Loire River at its feet on each big tide, has imagined this house as being the last of the village, built too close from the River by heedless occupants. Thus, his “Maison dans la Loire” (House in the Loire River) is the exact architectural copy of the former inn of Lavau located on the harbour; run beached at the furthermost bounds of the marshes.

“A house, of which the foundations are caught into the sludge and slightly tilt, having closed shutters like a deserted wreck although smoke still comes out of the chimney. It seems as lonely as we sometimes can be in the wild. Realistic and poetic image, concrete, secretive, quiet, this house asleep on the Loire River, could be a picture, a three-dimensional painting settled in time. Still.” –Jean-Luc Courcoult

Jean-Luc Courcoult has founded the company “Royal de Luxe” in 1979, located in Nantes since 1989. From “Géant tombé du ciel” (Giant fallen from the sky) to “Chasseurs de girafes”(Giraffe hunter) going through “Retour d’Afrique” (Back from Africa), and its more recent creation, the” Royal de Luxe” alternates outstanding shows and lighter creation on public places and streets throughout the world.

“This is what I call the imaginary realism. “Realism“ because it is a concrete, tangible, palpable, and absolute reality. And “imaginary“ because the aim is to place dream in people’s life.” Jean-Luc Courcoult.
