“Le sang d’un poète”
Collective exhibition

Collective FRAC exhibition with artworks of international artists from public and private collections.

Curators: Adam Budak (Poland/Austria) and Laurence Gateau, director of the Regional Contemporary Art Collection of the Pays de la Loire (FRAC).

“Every poem is a coat of arms; it needs to be deciphered.” This enigmatic consideration is Jean Cocteau’s introduction to his major artwork, Le Sang du Poète (1930). The exhibition took it as a starting point to try and hold the audience spellbound, aiming at unravelling and unveiling the illusion of art, and its capacity to build and create autonomous world where one can escape life (real or metaphorical).

Artists: David Altmejd, Cristian Andersen, Christophe Berdaguer & Marie Pejus, Ulla von Brandenburg, Steven Claydon, Jean Cocteau, Keren Cytter, Edith Dekyndt, Spencer Finch, Lothar Hempel, William Hunt, Ann Veronica Janssens, Klara Kristalova, Jim Lambie, Vincent Lamouroux, Victor Man, Mark Manders, Daria Martin, Ursula Mayer, Paul Morrison, Drago Persic, Susan Philipsz, Egill Sæbjörnsson, Markus Schinwald, John Stezaker, Nadim Vardag, Andro Wekua, Guido van der Werve.
