La Chapelle Launay

It seems that this town was built on the ruins of an ancient Gallo-Roman village, whose former name was significant : “Alnetus”, an obvious misspelling of “Alneus”, or alder, this tree well-known for its deal which also gives its origin to the Blanche-Couronne abbey, which is listed as an Ancient Monument just like the church and the presbytery. Its heritage also consists of the Moulin à vent de la Perrière, a windmill which was converted into a residence, the church dating back to the 19th century with its modern steeple, its hiking trails, the île Chevalier along the Loire River and a nice panoramic view on the plain!
