Located 8 kilometres downstream from Nantes, Indre has always been the main crossing point of the Loire River. The ferryboat – picturesque cruise from one bank to the other – links up Basse-Indre and Indret, the northern and southern parts of the Loire River, every quarter of an hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Haute-Indre, Basse-Indre and Indret : these three neighbourhoods were 3 islands of the Loire until the beginning of the 20th century. Nowadays, the alleys of Haute-Indre and Basse-Indre are favourable to nice walks – the beautiful middle-class houses along the embankments offer the double view of the fishermen’s houses and of the Loire River. Marked hiking trails and bicycle paths make it easier to discover the area. Indret, that is still too little-known, also offers remarkable sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
