Frossay

Just a few kilometres far from the two largest seaside resorts of the Pays de Retz, the heritage of Frossay is varied and rich, in particular beautiful residences, the priory, La Rousselière castle that are as many remnants of a time when Frossay was taking advantage from its closeness to Migron harbour, business hub of local goods and stopping-off place for pilgrims going to Saint James of Compostela.

The Basse-Loire ship canal (canal de la Martinière) offers multiple possibilities to the town – the bird sanctuary of l’île du Massereau, a real paradise for migratory birds (peregrine falcons, black storks, grey herons, greater spotted eagles), the site of the Champs-Neufs and its remarkable built heritage, that of the Carnet and its lock. Frossay is a green setting that favours nice walks on the numerous hiking trails.
