“From here to ear”
Céleste Boursier-Mougenot

Born in 1961, Celeste Boursier-Mougenot is a musician by training. A composer for Pascal Rambert’s theatre company from 1985 to 1994, he then started to work as a visual artist, in the field of sound installation, recording the “musical and acoustic potential” of various objects.

“From here to ear” turned the market hall into a giant aviary. Already exhibited in various locations, it was shown for the first time outdoors. Forty birds, zebra finches, fly from their breeding ground to five electric guitars. Their incessant movement creates an unpredictable sound composition, the only human intervention being the way the guitars are tuned. In this aviary, holsters become watering places, ponds hole punching a maritime landscape.

Using the wood path, visitors will be able to wander about in the aviary: their intrusion disturbing the flights of the birds and, consequently, shaping the composition.
